ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER NINTENDO 'LEAK' on x (twitter)
Stop me if you've heard this one before: a Nintendo "insider" posts cryptic images on social media, throws in some vague hints about future announcements, and the gaming community collectively loses its mind trying to decipher what shade of blue in Link's tunic means we're getting a new F-Zero game.
THE LATEST EPISODE
This time, our crystal ball gazer is SamusHunter2, who's taking a break from hunting Metroids to share some totally-trust-me-bro information about Nintendo's winter plans. The "leak" comes complete with the traditional cryptic image package: Link playing his ocarina (which apparently isn't about Zelda because that would be too obvious) and something Donkey Kong related (but not a game, because why make things simple?).
RIDDLE ME THIS, RIDDLE ME THAT
According to our mystery leaker, we should "focus on all elements on the screen" in the Ocarina of Time image. You know, because Nintendo apparently announces their future plans through Instagram-style puzzle posts now. What's next, Mario Kart 9 revealed through interpretive dance?
THE DONKEY KONG SITUATION
The DK-related announcement is supposedly not a game, leading to speculation about a TV show or movie. Because after the success of the Mario movie, apparently every Nintendo character needs their own Hollywood debut. Coming soon: "Donkey Kong: Banana Republic," a gripping tale of one ape's fight against potassium deficiency.
REALITY CHECK
Let's remember that while SamusHunter2 apparently leaked the Xenoblade Chronicles X Switch port (which, reminder, still isn't officially announced), the track record of Nintendo "insiders" generally falls somewhere between a Magic 8-Ball and your uncle who works at Nintendo.
CONCLUSION
Will Nintendo announce something this winter? Probably, because that's how linear time works. Will it have anything to do with these cryptic tweets? Maybe, in the same way that if you predict rain every day, eventually you'll be right.
For now, file this under "things that might happen but also might not," right next to "Mother 3 localization" and "F-Zero revival." At least the inevitable disappointment will keep us warm this winter.
